NCC Bunch Rides FAQs
7
What regulations do you run your bunch rides under?
1
NCC operates under the regulations set by AusCycling. As such, as a function of our insurance requirements we need to comply with their regulations and policies.
There Group Ride Policy Can be Found here.
Do I have to be a member to come along?
2
Nope! We aim our bunch rides to be a stepping stone into being more involved in the club.
If you do decide you like coming out and do so regularly, we would like you to have an AusCycling membership (of any club!). A ride membership would be the minimum of what we’d like you to have to cover ambulance, third party person + property.
Where can I find what’s coming up (including, routes dates etc)?
3
We pop them all up on our clubs Strava Page here, or keep an eye on Social Media
What pace should I expect?
4
The Strava listing should provide a guide (normally a Norton Summit time) for how fast we expect to go up hill. We’ll always regroup at the top of climbs
Do I have to do the whole ride?
5
Nope! Just let the ride leader know if you are turning off early!
Anything else I should consider?
6
Our first goal is safety. So be predictable on the bike, ride within your limits (ie you don’t need to keep up on the descents – we will regroup), leave the aero bars at home, and try to be the model bike rider that we know you are (ie don’t do the things that give bike riders bad names).
And if you are asked to do something by the ride leader – please be receptive to their feedback. We just want everyone to get home safe.
I’m looking for other bunch rides – could you suggest any?
If you are brand new to bikes with others – Recycle Bicycle Sales have some great introductory rides on Sunday Mornings. These are the perfect place to start.
For some fun riding in the hills, The Giant Adelaide Rides (Thursday and Saturday Mornings). Most of their ride leaders (and almost all their staff) have been NCC members or raced with us at some stage – they are all tip top people.
For some gravel, adventures and fun road rides – try Mood Racing. They know how to have a fun time on two wheels.
